Top 5 Things to Know About Mike Muldoon

City Barbeque West Chester
‘Que Ambassador
Makes Big Impact
If you pay any attention to InMoment comments, “Mike from West Chester” might be a name you’ve heard before. We have received countless unsolicited reviews because of the impact Mike has made on our guests, so we figured it was time to sit down and talk with him about how he Serves & Creates Happiness.
“Everything. Absolutely everything. Part of my makeup is that.” Mike McIntyre says about what Serving and Creating Happiness means to him. As the weekend ‘Que Ambassador for West Chester, Mike has the opportunity to touch many lives during their time in our restaurant - and they tell us all about it! When we asked Mike how it felt to receive shout-outs from our guests, he told us that he thinks the feedback is awesome. “I get to read some [reviews] that are brought to me, but I get enough on the floor. Guests smiling, kids laughing, saying ‘hi’ – asking for cookies; that’s hard to beat!”
What says most about his humble character is that the compliments aren’t Mike’s favorite part of the job, his teammates are! Mike tells us that he loves to take care of his teammates by “noticing them, taking care of them, and buying them roses for Valentine’s Day.” (*Insert communal, “Awww!”*) After speaking to Kelsey Schottmiller, RMM for Cincinnati, you can tell the feeling is mutual. “All of Mike’s teammates speak so highly of him and enjoy working beside him!” She also added that Mike is great at what he does, “I have been in the restaurant several times when guests have come up to tell me about how happy they are with Mike’s service. One set of guests, in particular, visit City Barbeque after cancer treatments because they know that there will be a smiling face at the door after a long day.”
These special stories are part of what makes City Barbeque so different, and our employees, like Mike, are making sure we are forging authentic interactions with our guests - making lasting impressions about who we are and what can be expected from a trip to our joints. When we asked Mike what his favorite memory was, he said that he had to pick two. “One was a young soldier coming home from boot camp. Both parents picked him up, they wanted to come here for BBQ. We bought them dinner and they couldn’t believe it! The other was a young woman with autism who came in with her father for his birthday. I talked to the family, spent time with the daughter, so they all got to enjoy their dinner. It takes a parent to understand how that goes (*chuckle*).”
You might be wondering, what makes Mike so good at making someone’s day? His answer: that the key is based off of his personal outlook on life. “I enjoy life – there is nothing wrong with making others happy. My age, being a grandpa, is the biggest advantage for me! That experience is irreplaceable.” And it was no surprise to hear that Mike credits part of his success to being a grandfather. In fact, he moved to Ohio to help support his daughter after she received her Bachelor’s in Nursing. After his move, it took him 10 persistent days of “bugging Reese” to get the job!
Since becoming a part of our City Barbeque family, Mike has been making memories with all of our raving fans in his own unique way. Mike’s advice to anyone wanting to know what makes a successful ‘Que Ambassador is basic friendliness and giving your time to the guest, but most importantly: Staying True.

“Sunday night is our favorite night to come have your ribs! Tonight you were sold out. You had a line out the door and after waiting and almost getting to the register the sold out sign went up. Disappointed, we still ordered dinner and sat down and waited to eat. Busy for a Sunday, you could see the manager making food coaching her team on what to do next and reminding them to stay calm and just stay in there positions and let her handle the “pressure”. Once the line finally calmed and all the food was out the manager went around checked on each of your team members thanked them then went out to the Dining room to talk to guest and apologize for the longer wait times tonight. Offering dessert and sincere apologies to each of your guest. Tough night but what a great team you have. Working together, checking on each other, saying good job, giving them a hug, going over and beyond to make sure not only us but every table was satisfied. We will be back! What a excellent team you have built! As a business owner myself we search years to find individuals like you have in this establishment. Kudos.”

“This store and staff are wonderful. You have set the bar for my family when it comes to quality of food and service. We recently went to a “famous” bbq place in Pigeon Forge, TN. Not even close to MY City Barbeque. Keep up the good work! Oh yeah.......Hi Bailey! From your regular “

“I went into the Matthew's (Charlotte nc) location superbowl Sunday to pick up my HUGE order...gm David said hello to me by name, got my entire order together perfectly. When I ask how business was for the day he told me that he was unexpectedly shorthanded (call outs) yet all personnel had smiles, joked around with the guests and kept everything calm. I used several discount cards that I had accumulated (bonus cards with gift card purchase and others) ...he never faltered, got it all done and helped carry everything to my car. You have a true winner in this GM, didnt let the negatives effect his responsibilities and still kept everyone loose and smiling ...thank you again David!”
